Solicitation Assistance

Many people approach the Board and family members asking, "How can I help"…"How can I volunteer?" YOU can help in a very big way by obtaining raffle and/or silent auction donations from business or affiliations anywhere. This is a perfect way to generate funding for this worthy cause and the best part is…it is at no cost to you. We need all the help we can get with our raffles and silent auctions and have found that the best way to obtain these donations is from businesses you frequent.

Food, wine/alcohol/beer, restaurant gift certificates, winery tours, overnight stays in hotels/resorts, gift baskets, entertainment venues, home crafted items such as QUILTS are all popular and well received. Do you know anyone who has and would donate a timeshare or vacation condo they will not use for 1 week in 2009/10? Do you know anyone who has season tickets to any sports venue locally or in Boston, New York City, New Jersey (do I hear Yankees…Mets…Red Sox…Giants…Patriots…Jets) who would donate 2 or more tickets for a game? Are you or someone you know creatively gifted, i.e., knitting a blanket, making a quilt, cooking up a basket of jams and chutneys, crafting small wooden furniture items. Do you have a skill to donate such as….will paint one room of someone's house, will spend ½ day fixing plumbing or electrical problems or on general household repair?

We did well with our donations for the September 6, 2008 event - utilizing only a few people. With your support, we can do even better which ultimately will help a group of people who desperately need our support.

To make this easy for you, please contact us at rdtfoundation@gmail.com to request the solicitation letter. By giving or sending this letter to business (especially those you are a patron of) you may generate items for the raffle or silent auction at our event. If you use this letter, sign your own name and include your phone number and any other instructions. For instance, for long distance businesses, you may want to ask them to send the donation or at least a letter of commitment to the Foundation address. If locally and you will pick the item(s) up, you may want to ask them to call you. If you can, we would appreciate the help.
