October 2009 Welcome Table at St. John's St. Ann's Church

St. John's St. Ann's church in Albany's South End responds with compassion and care to all neighbors in need, regardless of race, creed, gender, national origin, age, disease, handicap, or lifestyle. They provide food, furniture, outreach, referrals, and holiday and summer programs through the generous efforts of dedicated volunteers. The church provides space in its center for a bi-weekly Welcome Table, sponsored by various churches and community groups throughout the capital region. The Welcome Table, twice a week, invites the South End community to a full free meal. On October 3, 2009, the Richard D. Tenenini Foundation hosted a Welcome Table.

The menu consisted of Ham, coleslaw, baked beans, sweet potato casserole, veggie, carrot cake, and beverage.

  • 20 spiral cut hams were donated by Cook's Hams through Price Chopper Supermarkets
  • Prinzo's Bakery on Delaware Avenue, Albany NY donated 18 dozen dinner rolls
  • Sweet Treats Bakery in Albany NY made a delicious carrot cake and discounted the cost as a donation.
  • McDonald's on Holland Ave., Albany NY donated the beverage.
