OUR FIRST FUNDRAISING EVENT -- SEPTEMBER 6, 2008

September 6, 2008 was the first fundraising event of the Richard D. Tenenini Foundation. It was a charity softball game between the NYS Office of Mental Health and the New York Association of Psychiatrist Rehabilitative Services and Mental Health Association in New York State accompanied by a delicious pork and chicken BBQ.

Despite Hurricane Hannah's arrival, a spirited softball game was played and the teams deserve a huge THANK YOU for their dedication that day.

The Richard D. Tenenini Foundation was formed to celebrate Rick's life and continue his legacy of helping individuals recover from mental illness. The September 6th event involved many individuals from the mental health community including staff from NYAPRS, MHANYS, and OMH as well as beloved family and friends. It was our goal to have some fun while we remember Rick in doing one of the things he loved to do…. play softball.

Fantastic entertainment was provided by Frank Jaklitsch and friends (www.frankjak.com), a barbeque by Tex's BBQ Longhorn Catering Company (www.texsbbq.com 518-453-8397 or 518-235-2323), games, a 50/50, and a raffle. This event brought nearly 200 people, despite the wind and rain. Over $9000 was raised to help people recover from mental illness. Funds raised from this event will be used to assist young adults, recovering from mental illness, achieve their educational or vocational goals.

The Foundation Board sincerely thanks everyone who attended, volunteered, and donated raffle items, as well as the many who gave generous donations to this worthy cause.

Thank You!
