MAY 2, 2009 CINCO DE MAYO FIESTA EXTRAVAGANZA

The Richard D. Tenenini Foundation's second annual charity event, a Cinco De Mayo Fiesta Extravaganza, was held on May 2, 2009 at the Crossings of Colonie. The event was abundant with delicious food, drinks and superb service by Classe' Catering (www.classecatering.org)… the best entertainment ever by Frank Jaklitsch and Friends (www.frankjak.com)…magic performed by Patrick Terry of NYC…and a silent auction and raffle with many high quality donated items. Please take a look on this website at our vendors list and items and PLEASE thank them for their generous donations by making purchases at their businesses.

The Foundation Board is very thankful for the 135 attendees and 61 donators who helped to raise funds for young adults with mental illness. Our previous event in September 2008 and subsequent 2008 donations enabled us to sponsor 8 kids who live at Parsons Child and Family Center (www.parsonscenter.org) for their Holiday Hero's program. Holiday Heroes helps to provide happy and memorable holidays for boys, girls, and families receiving services through Parsons. While the holiday season is a time of joy for most, it can be a difficult time for the children living in Parsons' group homes and cottages, with foster families or receiving services from Parsons Child and Family Center. Holiday Heroes supports the idea that every child is important and should experience the pleasure in giving and receiving during the holidays.

This May, we provided 3 young adults with awards totaling $2,000 each for their continuing education. Two of the awardees are or will be attending Hudson Valley Community College in the fall and the other awardee from Colonie Central High School will attend the College of St. Rose in the fall. All three of these young adults are special people to us and we are so happy to be able to help them achieve their goals.

The 2009 event raised $6400 and we are grateful to our supporters who enable us to continue our cause. Please check out the photos of Cinco de Mayo on this site. There are some fantastic shots and of course, great memories.

THANK YOU ALL…ALWAYS!
